The Story:

Madam Wang was the stepmother of Xu Anping. She brought up Xu Anping and arranged the marriage for him.

Madam Wang had the worry of being commended that she did not treat the stepson well. She also did not have any child in Xu family.

Since Xu Anping and Su Yuying had being married, Madam Wang had worried that she would lose the filiations of Xu Anping. Therefore, Madam Wang started to be defensive, suspicious, censurable and envying to Su Yuying.

Xu Anping did not have a peaceful family. He could not settle the conflict between his stepmother and his wife. Hence, he committed suicide at the river. But he was rescued by a magistrate.

After finding out the problem of Xu Anping, the magistrate thought of a brilliant idea to help him out of the difficult position.

Madam Wang and her daughter-in-law finally lived in harmony. The change of relationship between them was due to the mutual understanding of each other. Hence, we learned from the story that to love one another sincerely and love will make up for many of our faults.
