The Pulai Desaru Beach

Our 2008 Chinese New Year Trip

After taking breakfast on the Chinese New Year's Day, we got ready to go to Desaru of Malaysia for our 3-day trip.

Driving along Ayer Rajah Expressway, East Coast Parkway, Changi Coast Road, we arrived at Changi Ferry Terminal in about 40 minutes' time. We got through the custom at about 11.30 a.m. and got on board immediately.

The ferry left the terminal 10 minutes late at 12.10 noon. It took about 40 minutes for the ferry to arrive at Tanjong Belungkor Ferry Terminal of Johor. We spent 30 minutes in travelling by coach to the hotel The Pulai Desaru Beach.

The guest room kit was ready for us. After filling out my particulars, we got to our room. We ever spent our Chinese New Year holiday in this hotel four years ago.

We took simple lunch and spent about 20 ringgits each. But we spent 60 ringgits per person for our buffet dinner!

There was no exciting entertainment and no shopping mall. That was the reason we chose to spend our holiday in Desaru Beach. We would like to have a peaceful and quiet environment for our holiday.

Solomon suggested going to the beach after dinner. We had a small torch. It was quiet and dark at the beach. We did not wonder too far as I was worried about the rising tide might stop us from walking back to the hotel. It was foggy around the tip of trees. I took whatever picture I liked with my digital camera and Solomon used his SLR digital camera.

The hotel provided buffet breakfast.
I liked this arrangement. We could take our breakfast anytime during the breakfast hours.
Although the fee of breakfast must be included in the room rate, but we did not feel that we needed to spend extra money for our breakfast. It was once we stayed in the hotel which did not provide free breakfast. We spend about 16 dollars each for our buffet breakfast and Solomon's mother just took two slices of bread!

Solomon and I went for photo-taking after our breakfast.
The beach was quiet. Most of the guests were in the hotel's swimming pool and not in the sea.

We found that Desaru Impian Resort was just a short distance away from our hotel.
The few blocks of buildings provided various types of guest rooms. There was also a large theme park. We stayed in that resort a few times about five years ago. We were told later by the travel agent that the resort was closed.

It was hot in the afternoon. Solomon was lazy to go photo-taking again.

I went to the beach by myself. I walked the opposite direction against where we walked this morning.
I walked towards the crowd at a distance away. It took me about 40 minutes to reach there. I found it was the beach near the Golden Beach Hotel where we spent our last Chinese New Year holiday. There was an ample parking field and the locals used to come to that beach during the weekend and holiday.

Solomon planned to go to the beach at 5 a.m. on the third day. But he was at deep sleep when the alarm clock rang.

We got ready to check out after our breakfast. We wished to go back to Singapore by 3-pm ferry but there was no vacancy. The next ferry would be at 5 p.m. Hence, we took the 11 o'clock ferry.
