The Festival is to promote the traditional Teochew culture and Teochew Opera. It aims to solicit the sodality of the same culture in revitalising the East region of Guangdong.

This is the great event for the Teochew people of China and overseas to get together. There will be 14 overseas groups and 30 China Teochew Opera groups with a total of 1,800 artists to assembly in Shantou.

Floats of Teochew Opera Parade

After the opening ceremony on 11 November 2008, there will be a parade of 35 floats with Teochew Opera artists. The traditional Teochew music and characters of Teochew Opera playing on each float.

Time of the parade: In the morning of 11.11.2008

Route of the parade:

　　　 Starting from the People's Square, passing by Municipal Building, Haibin Road, Municipal Committee Building, Municipal People's Congress Building, People's Political Consultative Conference Building, Dongxia Road, Zhongshan Road, Huashan Road and to the ending point at Times Square.

　　　 There will be decorations at the starting point and ending point where the performance held.
