Friendship
Remembering the Thai King

After Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej passed away on 13 October, there were many stories about his life on the Internet. I was moved by his friendship with Taiwan. I admired and respected his noble qualities of affection and faith.

Thai King maintained a closed relationship with the Republic of China (ROC). He visited Taiwan in 1963. He was glad with the assistance of Taiwan in agricultural technology to the Northern Thailand.

The diplomatic relations of Thailand and Republic of China was maintained from 1946 to 1975. That diplomatic relations was then eased when Thailand established the diplomatic relations with People's Republic of China on 1st July 1975.

While Thailand and Mainland China established the relations and the Ambassador of ROC Ma Ji-Zhuang (馬紀壯大使) was leaving Thailand, Thai King Bhumibol held a farewell for Mr. Ma Ji-Zhuang. Thai King said with deep feeling that

Diplomatic relations is a piece of paper. Paper can be torn. But the affection cannot be torn apart.

Changes in the world situation. It was always unexpected.
The greatest morals of us will be the affection and faith.
We will respect those who have the noble qualities, and not power and influence.
Guard our heart, for it is the wellspring of life.
