Brisk Walk
Keeping Fit

Our neighbourhood Residents' Committee (RC) used to organise a brisk walk on the fourth Sunday of the month.

I always joined the brisk walk with my son when he was young. When he was at Secondary Two, I did not participate regularly anymore.

Four years after that, it was on 28th November 2010, I took part at the brisk walk again. When arriving at the RC premises at 7.30 a.m., some of the RC committee members said that they did not see me for a long time. It would be good for me to take up this exercise and to keep fit.

We had the warm-up exercise before the 2-kilometer walk.

There were many elderly and some youths and children. Some of them were from the same family. There were grandparents with grand children, parents with their children, as well as groups of aunties.

I walked leisurely and took pictures at the same time. I also talked with some participants on the way. It took me half an hour to complete my journey.

Arriving at the RC premises, we were given a face towel, bread and a bottle of water. For those who completed the journey, they were given a chance for lucky draw.

Many of us took the brisk walk as a monthly activity. Everybody enjoyed the walk when it was still not that hot. It was also a way of keeping fit.
