I read an article attentively in the Chinese newspaper Lianhe Zaobao (联合早报)
on the last Sunday in March.
It was an interview of Loh Woon Lee (罗文丽), wife of the
Member of Parliament Chiam See Tong (詹时中).
She told the reporter about the 17-year-old history of her husband.
That was the first I read an article word by word in the recent years.
When I read the name of Toh Kim Kiat (卓金桔),
It touched me very much. It had been seventeen years.
But Toh Kim Kiat was still a lovely and honest girl on my mind.
I remembered that she said that we had to think of the source
when we drank water (饮水思源).
Although I did not hear any news about her after that, I remembered
her by what she said. I respect her as a good Singapore Citizen.
We have to be honest in our conduct and attitude.
Besides, we have to be honest in our thought.
God is observing us. We should not deceive ourselves as well as others.
Honest will earn us credit. Otherwise, we will not gain any
trustworthiness from others.
One can be trusted will not deceive oneself.
We have to be honest in what we do, what we say and what we think.
When we are honest in our thinking, we will say what we think.
We will be responsible for our words.
A sincere person will not be fraudulent when he gets along with people.
We should be honest in dealing with money, in academic research and
in contacting with people.
In dealing with money, we shall keep our promise.
Knowing it say knowing it, not knowing it say not knowing it,
that is real knowledge.
Think of its source when we drink water is the honest in emotion.
After observing the opposition Members of Parliament,
I remembered Joshua Benjamin Jeyaretnam (惹耶勒南), Chiam See Tong (詹时中)
and Low Thia Khiang (刘程强).
He was a brave political warrior. He fought until the day he was called to
the Lord. The enchantment of Chiam See Tong won his supporters for
many years. Low Thia Khiang is sharp and smart.
Chiam See Tong is a lucky person. He has two sincere comrades
Sim Kek Tong and Toh Kim Kiat.
I always remember what Toh Kim Kiat said,
"饮水思源".
May God richly bless you, Toh Kim Kiat!
