When I came back from China in November 2008, a few occasions made
me cheerful. The first occasion was the invitation from the Eldercare
Centre. There was dinner for the volunteers on 5 December.
I went to Yio Chu Kang Grassroots Club that evening. It was not far away
from the MRT station. Hwee Kheng was receiving the volunteers at the door.
She gave me a gift when I arrived.
When Hwee Kheng introduced me to her General Manager Miss Lim.
She was glad to know that I provided massage service to the
elders in two Centres in Jurong.
Anne, the Manager from Jurong Centres, brought me to the table where
the staff were. There were five Eldercare centres at present and
two of them were in Jurong.
I went to the two centres on alternate weeks. Initially,
there were two volunteers provided massage service and
about two months later I was the only one until now.
Amongst the volunteers, there were young and old, men and women.
We were very active. We enjoyed the dinner, singing and dancing.
Certificates of Appreciation were present to the volunteers.
Those who provided service for more than three years were
presented with a plaque.
The General Manager mentioned that there were more and more
elders. We were willing to be the volunteers and it helped
the centres very much.
It was the thanksgiving dinner.
