The grand event was organised by the Ngee Ann Kongsi, Teochew Poit Huay Kwan and Joo Chiat Community Club.

The organiser hoped to confluent the various Teochew Opera Troupes in Singapore to present their creams, and learn from each other's works.

The idea was enthusiastic supported by our local amateur players. The participating troupes are Er Woo Amateur Musical & Dramatic Association, Thau Yong Amateur Musical Association, Teochew Drama Association, Kityang Huay Kwan Teochew Opera Troupe, The Chinese Opera Institute, Goh Eng Hoe Teochew Opera Class, Arts Focus and Joo Chiat Teochew Opera Troupe. Besides, Theng Chuan Tan Clan Association from Johor Bahru and the well-known Sin Yong Hwa Heng Teochew Opera Troupe were also be on the stage.

Many traditional tales will be performed, such as "Blessing from Fairy Maiden with a Baby Boy" (Xian Ji Song Zi), "Granting Prime Ministers of the Six Kingdoms" (Liu Guo Feng Xiang), "Reunion at the Capital" (Jing Cheng Hui), and "Encounter with the Lady Ghost in the Firewood Store" (Chai Fang Hui), etc. There will also be a 100-member Teochew Opera Choir.

Opera fans will see many popular artists on stage. They include Chen Guo Lai, Lim Sun Xiang, Lim Hwee Choo, Cai Bi Xia, Cai Sui Fang, and the veteran artists from the 181-year-old Sin Yong Hwa Heng Troupe.

The show was on at the Kreta Ayer People's Theatre on Saturday, 14 July 2007 at 7.30 pm.
