It was the first Sunday of December. When it came to prayer time,
Solomon and I decided to pray for his mother regarding the concert that
they would present at the end of December.
We then followed with the progress of the concert preparation. As I helped a Teochew
Opera Troupe in writing press release in October, I tried to find out that whether
I could assist in writing the press release or publish the information of the
concert in my website. I did not receive an encouraging response.
As days went by, the sale of admission tickets was not very good. Solomon
and I kept praying for his mother. One day, his mother said that she wished
that she could put up the poster of the concert at the Jurong Regional Library.
I did not give any suggestion or offer any assistance in this matter.
I just kept quiet and pray for her.
Eventually, Solomon's mother told us that she approached the Library and she was
told to write in. What Solomon and I could do is to assist her in using the e-mail and
I put in a little effort in reading the e-mail. We kept praying for her quietly.
It was great that she got a very good response from the Library. After a couple of
e-mail correspondence, she got the permission to display the poster in twenty-two
branches of the National Library.
I helped her to find out the locations of the libraries. We realised that most of
the libraries were located along the MRT lines. After a careful study, I knew that
she might need to spend more than two days to deliver the posters to the twenty-two
branches. I suggested that she would deliver the posters to libraries along the
East-West line and me the North-South line as well as North-East line. We had to skip
two libraries because they were not within the walking distance of the East-West line.
After getting ready for the posters, we set off from home at the same time.
It was very smooth for me to move along the North-South line. The
staff in the libraries seemed already being informed about our request.
Where there was a long queue at the service counter, there would
be a staff came and attended to me. I did not need to spend more than
five minutes in each library.
I marked Yishun and Ang Mo Kio as the two locations that I might have to spend
more times in walking from the MRT stations to the libraries.
When the train approaching Yishun, I prayed very hard that I could find an
easy way to reach the library. At the control room of Yishun Station, the
kind staff showed me the direction from the station to the library. She
asked me whether I would be walking there or would take a bus. As I
was not familiar with the place, I preferred to walk. Oh! After walking for a
few minutes, I realised that
it was tired for an old man like me to walk that distance with that walking
speed. I then pray God to strengthen my wife while she was visiting
the libraries along the West-East line. On the way to Yishun Library,
there were people assisted me in directing the way.
At the Yishun Library, I was again received by a staff with a smiling
face. Her smile gave me strength to continue with my journey. Before
I left the library, I told the kind staff that I would next go to Ang Mo Kio
Library. She asked me to take a bus back to Yishun Station. From there,
I should take another bus to go to the next library. It would be easier for
me to travel by bus instead of travelling by train.
God answered to my prayer. A teenager confirmed that I was at the right
direction to go to Yishun Station when I was at the bus stop.
At Yishun Bus Terminal, a staff told me what bus to take. When I was
travelling in the bus, the driver told me where to alight. Before leaving
Ang Mo Kio Library, the staff told me how to go to the MRT station by
bus to continue with my journey.
I arrived at the Tao Payoh Library around 6.15 p.m. At that time, I decided
to have a break and take my dinner at Toa Payoh Central.
It seemed that God was sending angels to accompany me. I met all the
people with smiling faces. Even the noodle hawker smiled cheerfully to me
when I ordered my dinner. The smiling faces removed my tiredness.
Before I transferred the train from North-South line to North-East line,
I called my wife and she said that she had completed delivering posters
to the nine libraries.
Before the library closed at night o'clock, I had finished delivering posters
to the eleven libraries we planned. I then spent a few minutes walking around
the shopping mall at Sengkang Station.
Two days later and it was after the public holiday, I showed my wife the bus routes
to go to Redhill and Marine Parade. Then she herself delivered the posters to
the last two libraries.
A couple of days later, we talked about the delivery of the posters. We
were very happy with the staff of the libraries and the officer who handled
the request. While we were enjoying the kindness and helpfulness we
received along our journey, I said that we had to thank God for answering to
the prayer of Solomon and me. Oh! No more smiling on the face of Solomon's mother.
Before the birth of Solomon, his mother ever experienced how God helped
her. It was about sixteen years ago. She had only two more weeks to complete
her project and she was on medication at the same time. It was co-incident that
my Finnish Christian friends came to Singapore. The couple offered to pray
for me. When we had a chat after their prayer, I told them about my wife.
They then invited my wife to their hotel guest room and would like to pray for
her. For a short conversation, my wife told them that her working team needed
four weeks to complete the project. But it was only two weeks before the target
date and the project must be implemented on time.
Our Finnish friends suggested that let us tell God about the problem and let God
help in His way. The couple was back to Finland a few days later.
Two weeks after the project was implemented, my wife asked me about
the prayer meeting with my Finnish friends. Only then, she realised
that she said that they needed four weeks to complete the job. But
the job took them only two weeks and was implemented on time.
At the same time, she was healed and did not need further medication.
She was amazed and was smiling.
Sixteen years later, she forgot about that experience.
Everything is possible for him who believes.
