A Thousand Miles Away
Wi-Fi

There was no mobile phone for me more than twenty years ago. When travelling overseas, I had to use telephone to contact home.

Years ago, when Pastor Visanukorn came to Singapore to serve God a few days in Thai Good News Centre, he stayed at our place. So that a large amount of hotel rental could be saved.

One evening, I looked at his face and his appearance, I asked, "Are you thinking of home?"
He smiled. So I got through the phone call to Thailand and let him talk to his family.

I went to Chiang Rai, Thailand to assist the Christmas Celebration in 2014. I stayed in the Holiday Resort of Maechan. The staff of the Resort helped me to set up the Wi-Fi connection and I could contact my family soon.
During Christmas season in 2015 I went to Sikhio, Korat, Thailand. The first night staying in Pastor Chamraeng's place, his nephew helped me to set up the Wi-Fi connection. So that I could contact my family.
It is very popular for everyone to have a mobile phone nowadays. Therefore it is a courtesy to help our guest to connect our Wi-Fi.

The first evening when I was in Ban Hin Taek Village, Northern Thailand Mountains, I tried hard to find out the password of the Wi-Fi. After that, I sent a message to my family of my safe arrival.

A few days later, I saw my mobile phone was blinking when I woke up. I switched it on.

Oh! The night before my son sent a picture to me. Because of the time different, I was already asleep.

Looking at the picture of my son, I was very happy. He was holding a fish that he caught. His smile brought me much joy.

In order to receive representatives of Overseas Community Affairs Council (僑委會) and Tertiary Education Organisations from Taiwan, we visited Principal Luo Huai Xin (羅懷信校長) of Zhong Hua Chinese School (中華中學). His calligraphy was very good. He helped to write the welcome poster. Mrs Luo made various types of rice cake Mochi to treat us.

While going back to the Holy Love Hostel, I received a message from my son's girlfriend. She sent me a Happy Birthday blessing.

I was very glad to receive the blessing when I was thousand miles away from home.

I ever heard the preaching from a missionary. He reminded us to send blessing and encouragement message to missionary friends who were away from home.

I read from the Internet that some voluntary workers wrote:
We are at the foreign lands, we do not want our family or friends to worry, so usually we only report the good news.

We have to do our part to treat the volunteers well. Especially for those who believe in God, that is God's teaching.
(Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers,
for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.
Hebrews 13:2)
