We spent more time visiting shopping malls when my son Solomon completed his
GCE O-Level Examination.
He found a bottle-drink of Whiskey & Cola at a shopping mall and would like to
get a bottle.
I myself do not drink liquor. Solomon only got to take a little cup of
grape wine at the Holy Communion. After buying the bottle of Whiskey & Cola,
we both took a small cup of it for several nights.
We took it as we were celebrating festivals. The drink contained little
spirit and it did not make us drunk.
After that, we bought a bottle of Bacardi Breezer.
Although those drinks consist of low volume of spirit, I closely
observed Solomon on the effect of the drinks.
I found that he could hold larger capacity of liquor than me.
I then told him about the stories of liquor and me.
When I was 12 years old, I took a glass of Guinness Stout and fell
sleep for 24 hours on the Chinese New Year Eve.
I then did not take any alcohol except the grape wine at the Holy
Communion.
During the days attending Jaycees international conferences, Peng Wai
would assist me when anybody proposed a toast.
Sometimes he might drink on behalf of me.
I remembered him of his friendship.
Before leaving for Henan Mission in 2008, I was troubled by the
custom of toast. When we were in Henan, Pastor Ma and Brother
Xuewen helped me to get rid of toast and made me feel at home.
A sister-in-Christ told me that Pastor Cheah helped them to get rid
of toast many years ago. I was touched. I told my son to be
a gentleman and take care of his subordinates if needed.
Saint Paul ever wrote to Timothy, "Stop drinking only water,
and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent
illnesses." (1 Timothy 5:23)
It was written in Proverbs 20:1 that "Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler,
whoever is led astray by them is not wise."
We are Christians. We knew that drunkards would not inherit the kingdom of God.
I told my son that I would train him to take spirit after finishing
the Bacardi Breezer. I told him to beat those childish toast challengers!
We went to Bangkok for a holiday before last Christmas.
Prior to the trip, we went to shopping malls to see the various
types of liquors. We would like to see what liquors we could buy
at the duty-free shop when coming home.
We spent quite some times in the duty-free shop at Changi Airport when
we were back from Bangkok.
We took a bottle each of Whiskey and Vodka. We then continued to look
for any wine we could buy.
A salesgirl saw us and come to assist us.
She smiled when she heard that I would like to train my son to drink.
She then recommended the red wines.
We bought a bottle of red wine and a bottle of Champagne.
After paying the bill, Solomon told me that the price of alcohol was
much different between the duty-free shop and shopping mall.
As we ever took a bottle of Whiskey & Cola, we decided to start taking the
bottle of Whiskey.
For the first few times, we added Cola to the Whiskey.
After taking the diluted Whiskey, I realised that Solomon had
the better capacity for liquor than me.
After a few days, we shared half a small cup of Whiskey without Cola.
I just took a sipping and let Solomon finish the rest.
During those days we were taking the Whiskey, we would visit the Liquor
Department when we were at any shopping Centre. We looked at the
various types of liquor and the accessories as well.
Then we found the liquor chocolates.
