On the birthday of my son Solomon in October 2008, I went to
his school to meet the form teacher. We discussed about
his year-end school examination results as well as the
'O'-Level Examination the next year.
Solomon failed the subject of Additional Mathematics.
The teacher said that he had to re-sit the examination for
Additional Mathematics. If he did not pass, he might
not take that subject in the 'O'-Level Examination.
I went to meet his teacher in October 2009 to
discuss his year-end school examination again.
He passed the Additional Mathematics. But he did not
do the subject of Chemistry well. The 'O'-Level Examination for
the subject of Chinese Language was held in June 2009.
Solomon got A1. Therefore he could concentrate in the other
seven subjects.
A few weeks before the Examination, Solomon told me that he did not
want to sit for the examination for Chemistry. I asked him to
discuss with his form teacher and the teacher who taught him
Chemistry. Both teachers advised him not to give up and the
Chemistry teacher would give him tuition on the subject.
The result of 2009 'O'-Level Examination was released on 11 January 2010.
As I had to carry out my volunteer work in the Eldercare Centre until
3 p.m., I asked Solomon to send me a message on his result.
I got the message from Solomon after 3 p.m.
He just gave me the result of L1R5. He scored 10 points.
That was his way of life that he gave only brief answer.
I congratulated him and asked for the result of English Language.
He got A2. I was pleased with his hard-work and asked him
to send that good news to his mother too.
I went to buy three pieces of mouse-shape cakes before I went for
my Teochew Opera singing class that evening. That was the cake
Solomon liked it very much when he was young.
Soon after I reached home, Solomon came home too.
He went to take dinner with his classmates after they
got the results.
We celebrated with him for his good examination result.
We took the mouse cakes and I shared with him a small
cup of Whiskey.
When we talked about the afternoon when they were in school to
receive the result slip, he told me that he thanked every
teacher who taught him that afternoon.
Thank you, Teacher!
I was too glad to know what he had done.
Praise God! Solomon was grateful to his teachers.
