My son Solomon took part in the twentyfour 2008 last July.
The teacher-in-charge guided the five-member-team in producing
a short film
within 24 hours. Solomon was the editor in the team.
The mission of the team was to gather the future young leaders of Singapore
to sing the National Anthem proudly.
The National Anthem is a song that we Singaporeans learn from young.
As you can see in the film, some had to be given a refresher course,
while others sang beautifully in chorus.
We recognise the need to start learning from young.
So that the song will stay in our hearts and its message
will be etched in our minds.
Majulah Singapura
Mari kita rakyat Singapura
Sama-sama menuju bahagia
Cita-cita kita yang mulia
Berjaya Singapura
Marilah kita bersatu
Dengan semangat yang baru
Semua kita berseru
Majulah Singapura
Majulah Singapura
Solomon likes to take photo. He took part in the production of short film
when he was at Primary School. He learned the techniques of film
production.
He continued to develop his interest by taking part the multimedia services
as his Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) programme. He spent times in
film-making with his team members when they took part in the competitions
each year.
One of his school mates was doing the multimedia services after graduation.
He ever invited Solomon to assist him in some of the services. Solomon
gained the experience in film production at the company seminars,
wedding dinners, concert, etc. I encouraged Solomon to get into these
practical services as long as he did his home work well. I told him that
the transportation allowance given to him was not that importance.
He needed to apply what he learned in the CCA in actual work.
Solomon will be taking his Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level) Examination soon. He wished to take up Film & Media Studies
in Polytechnic in near future.
His mother hoped that he continue his studies in a Junior College
and later in the University. I supported Solomon to go ahead with
his interest. We should have no regrets.
When singing our National Anthem Majulah Singapura,
I wish Solomon will move forwards with the Nation and fulfill his dream.
