When I asked my 14-year-old son how much he could recall what
happened in his infancy. He could only remember one thing.
That was the net bouncer we bought for him after he was born.
When he was only a few months old, we used to place him in the bouncer.
We sat in front of him and talked to him. My wife would feed him
when he was in the bouncer. Sometimes we rocked the bouncer and
hoped that he enjoyed it.
But, I noticed that he always tried very hard to get out of the
bouncer. When he slipped down and his legs almost touched the
floor, we would put him back to the bouncer. We sometimes
used the belt to secure him, but he still tried to slip out.
That was the incident he still remembered now.
He said that it was a terrible experience when we put him
in the bouncer. Especially when we rocked him, there was
an insecure feeling as if he was floating in the air.
Unlike lying in the bed, there was something solid that
supported him. He tried very hard to get rid of the
bouncer. But whenever he almost made it, we put him
back to the bouncer again.
After listening to his story, I felt very sorry.
We made a mistake. We thought that we had given him
the best enjoyment, we actually placed him in an
insecure world.
If you are now doing the same thing, please observe whether
your child enjoy it. If your child tries to get away from
the bouncer, please put him on the mattress.
