Chinese New Year in Chinatown
2010

The Light-Up Ceremony of Chinatown's Chinese New Year Celebrations was held on 23 January 2010. People have started to swarm towards Chinatown in the evening. The Spring Festival Bazaar will be on until Chinese New Year Eve, early morning of 14 February.

After banning the setting off firecrackers in 1972, the atmosphere of Chinese New Year has gradually faint during the festival. When the firecrackers were again set off during at the Celebrations of Chinese New Year in 2004, thousands of people gathered at Chinatown.

Nowadays, the Chinese New Year seemed to be found only in Chinatown.

In order to get the mood of Chinese New Year and share it with my overseas friends, I went to Chinatown to take some picture on 27 January.

The various goods for the Spring Festival were more or less similar as the previous years. I noticed that there were more booths of Taiwan Mochi (麻薯). 2006 03.02.2010
