YOG Workforce Appreciation Party
Singapore 2010

Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee invited its workforce to an Appreciation Party. They attended the party in one of the evenings on 15 - 17 September at Universal Studios, Resorts World Sentosa.

Our Bishan team got the invitation on 16 September evening. We met at Vivo City and took the Sentosa Express to the island. Most of us put on the YOG t-shirts. While we were taking pictures at the Resorts World, it made us recall the YOG days.

Walking in the Universal Studios streets, I dreamed of the days when we were at Tokyo Disneyland with our son Solomon. We visited Tokyo Disneyland when Solomon was three years old, ten years old and eleven years old. He is now 16. The simple and innocent boy has become staid and more mature youth. When will we have an opportunity revisiting the memorable place of interest?

All the members in or team were much younger than me. They liked adventure games. Whenever we came to the exciting attractions, they would be very happy. I knew my limit and took good care of myself, therefore I preferred to look after their belongings and wait for them outside the attractions.

I might ever experience the roller coaster when we visited the Genting Highlands when Solomon was very young. There was a night when Solomon stayed wit mother in the room. I went to the indoor theme park. I saw a game of planetary adventure. I went into the room and took my seat. We were told not to put our hands out. When the journey started, it was dark and could not even see my neighbour. We seemed traveling in the galaxy. I started to get frightened and gripped my nieghbour's hand. He gripped me harder. I thought he might be frightened too. When the journey ended and the light was on. I told him that it was the first time I tried it and I was afraid. He said he was the same. I did not know actually was it a roller coaster!

It was like in the Tokyo Disneyland, there were crowds at every attraction. I avoided taking any adventure. Fortunately I went with the group and we had time in chatting and eating together.

Time flied. When we left the Studios, we got a bag of YOG souvenirs. I liked the VCD very much. There were videos of YOG Opening Ceremony and Closing Ceremony. On the way home, our friends were still taking pictures. I rushed for my transport and I missed the last bus back to vivo City. I spent half an hour in the queue to take a taxi home. It was almost one o'clock in the early when I reached home.

Sherrin Lee was with us that evening. She took care of us as much as the days during YOG.

She met different teams of the volunteers. She finally was with us the Bishan team.

Other than food and games, Sherrin also informed us on the registration of F1 complimentary tickets. So we went to register for it.

She was good in photography and took many pictures for us at the different attractions.

Thank you very much Sherrin!
